Gingerbread Boys
1 box butterscotch pudding mix – instant
½ cup shortening
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1½ cups flour
1½ tsps. ginger
½ tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. baking soda
Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and mix well. Add dry pudding mix, flour, and spices. Mix well. Roll dough approx. ¼” thick and cut with a cookie cutter or give each child small balls of dough to use for molding body, head, two arms, two legs, etc. This dough is easy to work with for the children. Bake on greased cookie sheet, 350 degrees for 10 minutes. If needed, add water to this dough. This recipe makes enough dough for 6 to 7 children.
*Raisins can be added for facial features and buttons before baking. Canned decorating icing can be used after baking for “dressing him up.”
